Learn All About Map Your Neighborhood at the Library
On Bainbridge Island, we use the Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) Program to help neighborhoods organize and prepare for disasters. To date, more than 54 percent of households on Bainbridge have gone through the program. If your neighborhood is one of the other 46 percent, you need to get connected.
Join the City’s Emergency Manager Anne LeSage on December 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bainbridge Library for a brief overview of the MYN program. She will show you how to help your neighborhood prepare for earthquakes, wildfires, winter storms, and more.
Anne will review
The Nine Steps to Take Immediately Following a Disaster to secure your home and to protect your neighborhood.
The Skills and Equipment each neighbor has that would be useful in an effective disaster response.
How to create a Neighborhood Map identifying a meeting place and the locations of propane tanks so they might be turned off in an emergency.
How to create a Contact List that helps identify those with specific needs such as the elderly, disabled people, children, and pets who may at times be home alone.
How to work together as a team to evaluate your neighborhood during the first hour following a disaster, take necessary actions, and then report your status to your closest Disaster Hub.
