Prepare in a Year 26: Education & Training

One of the best things you can do to increase your emergency readiness is to take a class such as Stop the Bleed, CPR/AED, ham radio, Wilderness First Aid, or Wilderness First Response.

The Goal

The goal is to make sure you can help your family and your neighbors in the event of an emergency. Your help might consist of first aid, setting up communications with the nearest Disaster Hub, or leading your neighborhood in readiness. Helping someone in those first few minutes after an incident can make a big difference. Also, in a large-scale disaster, first responders will be overwhelmed and unable to get to everyone who needs help—that’s where your help can be crucial.

The Strategy

  • Take a CPR/AED class so you can save a life.

  • Take a Stop the Bleed class.

  • Take a First Aid class.

  • Learn about household hazards.
