Last Week in Lousiville, at the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Conference, Bainbridge Island Emergency Manager Anne LeSage and BP Program Director Pascal Schuback received the 2025 IAEM-USA Preparedness Award on behalf of the City of Bainbridge Island and the BP Water, Safety, Hygiene (WASH) Team.

The WASH Team was recognized “for their outstanding commitment to educating the Bainbridge Island community about disaster readiness, with a particular emphasis on water, sanitation, and hygiene—critical but often overlooked aspects of emergency planning.”

IAEM also acknowledged that the WASH Team has provided “hands-on training across neighborhoods, conducted outreach at key community events such as the Farmers Market and the City’s Annual Day of Preparedness, and hosted a well-attended workshop on resicdential well water preparedness,” involving hundreds of volunteers hours. They cited the team’s educational materials that are available on the website and accessible by communities beyond Bainbridge.
