BP Helps Guide Senior Center Expansion

The upcoming (2027) expansion of the Bainbridge Island Senior Center will increase the center’s footprint from 6,200 square feet to 17,000 square feet, add a multipurpose hall that can accommodate 200 people, and build a rooftop terrace and more outdoor seating areas. In addition, with input from BP and City Emergency Manager Anne LeSage, the new design will enable the center, which is one of the Island’s Disaster Hubs, to serve full-time as a resilience hub.

What, you ask, is a resilience hub?

A resilience hub is a supercharged disaster hub that operates all the time, increasing a community’s resilience by

  • supporting ongoing community well-being and cohesion with information, social services, and events;

  • offering a gathering space and resource distribution center during a disaster; and

  • providing services and resources during recovery.
