Spend the Weekend with BP! Two Big Events
This is the weekend of readiness. On Saturday, come see us at our annual Day of Preparedness. On Sunday, join us for an afternoon garden party involving wine and emergency foods.
Day of Preparedness 2026
Day of Preparedness happens at Fire Station 21, 8895 Madison Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by whenever is most convenient for you. The first 100 people get free emergency supplies. Visit with volunteers at the different exhibit tables and learn about different categories of readiness. Bring your questions.
This year, we’re having breakout sessions in the Station 21 Community Room:
From 10 to 10:30 the BP Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) team will offer a demo on how to build your own Berkey-style water filter.
From 10:45 to 11:30, BP Executive Director Stephen Richardson, Emergency Manager Anne Lesage, and BIFD Chief Jared Moravec will conduct a fireside chat on preparedness.
From 11:45 to 12:30, BIFD staff will offer mini-CPR training. This requires advance registration.
And, at 12:30, Airlift Northwest will conduct a demonstration helicopter landing at the Station 21 helipad.

Quake ‘n’ Bake
This event is new this year and promises to be a hoot. If you’ve been stewing about what foods to store and how to store them for emergencies, we’re trying to take all the worry and guesswork out of the equation for you. The event is set up so you can try the main types of long shelf life emergency food. Of course, they’ll be paired with wine.
Enjoy games and good conversation on the lovely grounds of Heyday Farm. And get your copy of the Emergency Food Book, created by the Food Resilience Team to help you figure out how to store food for your particular household.
Quake ‘n’ Bake happens on September 20 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Heyday Farm, 4370 Old Mill Rd. Tickets are $10 for adults; children attend for free. Cider, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Get your tickets now.
Thank you to Heyday Farm and Preservation Wines!
