Letβs raise funds to equip our Disaster Hub!

The entire south end of Bainbridge Island including Fort Ward and South Beach will likely be cut off from the rest of the island in the event of a major earthquake.

The Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) program organizes residents to prepare for potential disasters in groups of 8 - 10 households. MYN gatherings offer guidance on essential supplies, organization strategies, and best practices for dealing with emergencies.
-
β½
MYN groups center around a Disaster Hub where the community can gather after a disaster for limited, gap-filling emergency services such as medical/psychological care, information, and shelter. Our designated Hub is at the Fort Ward Community Hall (aka The Bakery) adjacent to the Parade Grounds.

About 60 of our 250 households have completed the MYN program. We need more "MYN Captains" to organize their immediate neighbors for an initial meeting with a BP representative in a local home. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about becoming a MYN Captain!

While we have our meeting location at the Bakery, we still need to raise funds to equip it with emergency gear that BP volunteers are trained to use in a disaster. The kit costs about $15,000 between a trailer ($9,000) and emergency gear ($6,000). If every household chipped in $50 - $75, we could equip our own Hub!

If you can volunteer to be a MYN Captain and / or donate directly to the Fort Ward Hub, please do! The below form will designate your donation specifically to this Fort Ward project.
