The convening of the October Bainbridge Prepares’ Board of Directors’ meeting began with the welcoming of two newly appointed directors, Nora Harrison and Steve Sutorius. Board Director Erik Hovey said, “Both are significant contributors to our community and will serve both our volunteers and organization well.”
Nora is a Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) co-captain for her neighborhood, and she is certified in Wilderness First Aid. In her capacity as co-captain she helps organize her neighbors. She has also created response checklists that have been used as an example for the BP MYN team. Beyond her affiliation with BP, Nora is an active playwright and actor at Bainbridge Performing Arts.
Steve and his wife Kerry have owned the outdoor retail store Wildernest for nearly twenty years. As a local small business owner, and member of his homeowners association’s Map Your Neighborhood team, Steve has established deep ties to our community.
Erik said, “Both Nora and Steve will bring valued and important voices to our Board. We look forward to their contributing to the Board’s ability to support our volunteers, deepen community relationships, and ultimately continue to increase BP’s positive impact within our community.”
Kathy Haskin joined the Board earlier this year, bringing to BP her deep connection to both the non-profit and larger Bainbridge communities. Now a "semi-retired" leader in youth education, Kathy is the Director of Strategic Initiatives and former Executive Director at Peacock Family Services on the Island. Additionally, Kathy serves as the Development Committee Chair on the Bainbridge Prepares Board of Directors.
Erik described that committee as “a literal lifeline for Bainbridge Prepares as it serves as the conduit for the funding that sustains us as a non-profit organization. “ he added, “Kathy's presence on the Board has brought thoughtful insight and a compassionate perspective to our efforts to extend our impact within the community.”
