BIGWEELS, an acronym for Bainbridge Islanders Getting Workers Everywhere in Emergencies and Lots of Snow, is a volunteer group committed to serving the community during adverse weather conditions and challenging road situations.

Whether you need transportation to your doctor's office, to the ferry, or require assistance towing your vehicle out of a ditch or snowbank, the BIGWEELS team is ready to help.

The BIGWEELS Team works diligently to provide transportation assistance to community members during difficult weather situations. Whether it's driving a resident to their doctor's appointment or helping tow a vehicle out of a ditch or snowbank, they are always ready to lend a hand. In cases where their services are required, the City makes an announcement on its website and social media platforms, at which point individuals in need can submit a service request using a designated Google Form. The BIGWEELS team, with its spirit of neighborly care, truly exemplifies the collective commitment of the Bainbridge Island community to stand together in all circumstances.

  • When called upon, BIGWEELS team members spring into action, assisting with transportation and towing needs in the community. Their goal is to ensure everyone has safe access to essential services, regardless of the weather.

  • The BIGWEELS team is activated whenever inclement weather, such as heavy snowfall or ice, creates hazardous road conditions, making it difficult for community members to travel safely.

  • To request support from BIGWEELS, monitor the City's website and social media for activation announcements. When the team is activated, you can submit a request for assistance through a specified Google Form.

  • If you have an AWD vehicle and are comfortable driving in adverse weather conditions, you can sign up as a BIGWEELS volunteer. Your support can make a significant difference when our community faces challenging weather conditions.
